Model Answer

Andhra Pradesh has India’s second longest coastline. Gujarat has the longest. Surprisingly, Andhra Pradesh has wasted its opportunity to develop a shipbuilding and repair cluster here. Model Answer

The Center has started an initiative under the name of Maritime Amrit Kaal Vision 2047 to bolster the country’s shipbuilding capacity. As part of this, the central government has pushed Andhra Pradesh to make use of its rich resource of 1053 km-long coastline.

Model Answer

The Center identified Dugarajapatnam in Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh as one of the top five sites to have a new shipbuilding cluster. The other contenders for having such a shipbuilding plant are Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
